Everything Can Wait, But Time Never Waits: The 2027 Election in Nigeria

Every 1,460 days, Nigeria stands before destiny.

That is the rhythm of our democracy. That is the constitutional heartbeat of a nation of over 241 million souls that exists in this blesses country.

Time is the most democratic force in the universe. It does not know the rich from the poor. It does not know the governor from the gateman. It does not wait for the unprepared, and it does not beg the powerful. Time moves, whether we are ready or not. Even sleep must bow to it.

Everything in human life can wait.

Business can wait.

Travel can wait.

Marriage can wait.

Even sleep can wait.

But time? Time never waits.

And in 2027, time will not wait for Nigeria.

In just a few years, the ballot boxes will open again. The future of our schools, our hospitals, our security, our economy, and our children will be decided in one day. One decision. One vote as stated by constitutional provision stated.

The 2027 election is not just another election. It is a referendum on whether we want to continue managing decline, or whether we are ready to build a Nigeria that works for all of us.

We have seen what delay costs us. We have seen what happens when we treat elections like ceremonies instead of choices. When we vote with anger instead of vision. When we sell our votes for a bag of rice and buy 4 years of hardship.

But time has given us a gift: notice.

We still have time to prepare. Time to interrogate candidates. Time to demand manifestos, not slogans. Time to register, to get our PVCs, to organize in our wards, and to protect our votes.

Because when 2027 comes, it will not ask if we are ready. It will simply arrive. The great Greek philosopher Heraclitus said, “No man ever steps in the same river twice.” The Nigeria of 2027 will not be the same Nigeria of 2023. The question is: will it be better or worse? That answer is in our hands. But the clock is ticking.

Everything can wait.

But time never waits.

And 2027 is coming.
