Matawalle Honoured With An Award of Commendation By NIS

The Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, has been honoured with an Award of Commendation by the Nigerian Immigration Service, Malam Aminu Kano International Airport Command.

Receiving the award, Alhaji Matawalle expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Service to ensure seamless and successful Hajj operations.

Earlier, the Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport Command, Mr. Issa Adebayo Olaniyan, stated that the visit to the Board was aimed at enhancing coordination ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise. He noted that the award was in recognition of the Director General’s effective planning and preparations.
In a related development, the leadership of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), led by its Executive Secretary, Alhaji Isyaku Abdullahi Kubarachi, paid a courtesy visit to the Board. The delegation identified key areas of support to ensure the success of the Hajj exercise.
Alhaji Matawalle assured the agency of its full inclusion, stating that a focal person from SEMA would be appointed to the Joint Hajj Security Committee to strengthen safety coordination.

Similarly, representatives of Max Air, led by Mr. Oumo Remos, visited the Board to discuss airlift timelines and flight schedules. The airline advised intending pilgrims to adhere strictly to approved luggage limits to avoid operational challenges.
The Director General emphasized that the Board would not tolerate unnecessary delays from air carriers during the 2026 Hajj operations.
He concluded by praying for the safety and successful pilgrimage of all intending pilgrims from the state.
