NUJ Honour Usman Bello at Retirement

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ministry Chapel, has organized a colorful farewell ceremony in honour of the Acting Permanent Secretary, Malam Usman Bello, as he retired upon attaining the mandatory age of 60.
The event, held at the Ministry’s Conference Hall, attracted top management staff, journalists, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate a distinguished public servant widely regarded for his integrity, dedication, and exemplary leadership.

In his welcome address, Chairman of the NUJ Ministry Chapel, Comrade Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, paid glowing tribute to Malam Usman Bello, describing him as a humble and consummate professional whose legacy will continue to inspire generations of public servants.
Other speakers, including Malam Sunusi Abdullahi Kofar Naisa, Malam Maikudi Muhammad Marafa, Hajiya Halima Ahmad Ishaq (Director, Special Assignments), and Hajiya Aishatu Haruna (Director, Publications), commended the retiree’s unwavering commitment, leadership qualities, and immense contributions to the advancement of information dissemination in the Ministry.
Speaking on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the Director of Information, Alhaji Aminu Kabir Yassar, acknowledged the notable achievements recorded during Malam Usman Bello’s tenure, particularly in staff capacity development and institutional growth.
In his remarks, Malam Usman Bello expressed deep appreciation to the Ministry and the NUJ for the honour accorded him.
He thanked colleagues for their support and cooperation throughout his years of service, while also seeking forgiveness from anyone he may have offended and extending the same gesture in return.
The ceremony featured the presentation of gifts and a group photograph session, marking the end of a remarkable career defined by service, excellence, and dedication.
