Gov. Yusuf Distributes Food, Cash to 28 Islamic and Social Organisations for Ramadan

The Kano State Government has distributed food items and cash assistance to 28 Islamic and social organisations across the state as part of its Ramadan support programme.
The distribution ceremony, held at the Government House in Kano, was organised under the “Kano First End of Ramadan Support” initiative aimed at assisting religious groups and vulnerable members of society during the holy month.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Tijjani Auwal, said the gesture reflects the administration’s commitment to supporting the public, particularly during the Ramadan period.
He urged the beneficiary organisations to continue praying for sustainable peace, unity and harmony in Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.
Speaking earlier, the facilitator of the programme and the State Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Alhaji Abduljabbar Muhammad Umar, explained that the items were provided to help the organisations cater for their members and carry out charitable activities during the fasting period.
According to him, the state government will continue to support religious bodies, social groups and vulnerable persons across Kano, stressing the importance of maintaining a cordial relationship with the administration for the continued development of the state.
Organisations that benefited from the gesture include the Nigerian Correctional Centre Imams, Zakkat and Hubsi Commission, Sharia Commission, Hisbah Board, Kano State Council of Imams, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah, Jama’atul Nasril Islam, Council of Qur’anic and Islamiyya Schools, Fityanul Islam First Aid Group, Fadar Sarkin Guragu, Nigerian Association of the Blind (Kano Chapter), Association of the Deaf, Grave Attenders Association, Voice of Widows, Divorcees and Orphans Association, Women and Orphan Development Association, Da’awah groups, Qur’an Reciters Association, Tijjaniyya and Kadiriyya groups, Tsangaya groups, Fulani organisations from the 44 local government areas, as well as pensioners’ associations.
The commissioner commended the organisations for their contributions to societal development and religious guidance.
Also speaking at the event, the Commander of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, described the gesture as timely and appreciated the government for remembering religious and humanitarian groups during the Ramadan period.
Items distributed included bags of rice, cartons of spaghetti and cash donations to the beneficiary organisations.
