Gov. Yusuf Commends Tinubu as FEC Approves ₦334bn Kano–Kongolom Road Project

The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the review and upgrade of the Kano–Kongolom Road project at a total cost of ₦334 billion.
In a statement signed by the Director General, Media and Publicity Government House Kano Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa stated that, The approval was granted by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), marking what the governor described as a major milestone for infrastructure development in Kano State and the North-West region.
In a statement issued by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf said the project represents a historic breakthrough that will significantly improve Kano’s road network and strengthen the state’s position as the commercial and logistics hub of Northern Nigeria.
According to the governor, the redesigned road project will cover a distance of 132 kilometres and will be constructed as a three-lane concrete carriageway. The road will also feature solar-powered streetlights and modern CCTV surveillance systems to enhance security and safety for road users.

Governor Yusuf noted that the Kano–Kongolom corridor serves as a critical route linking Kano with Jigawa and Katsina States, making it one of the most strategic economic highways in the North-West and a vital gateway for trade, agriculture and industrial activities.
He emphasized that the scale of investment reflects President Tinubu’s strong commitment to the development of Kano State and the broader North-West region.
The governor stated that the project will create new economic opportunities for farmers, traders and transport operators while significantly reducing travel time and improving safety along the corridor.

Governor Yusuf also commended the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, for prioritizing quality infrastructure delivery and ensuring that the Kano–Kongolom Road project received due attention at the federal level.
He assured that the Kano State Government will provide full cooperation and create an enabling environment for contractors to ensure smooth execution and timely completion of the project.
The governor further noted that the project will generate employment, attract investment and reinforce Kano’s position as a leading commercial centre in the region.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to continued engagement with the Federal Government to attract projects that will directly improve the lives and economic wellbeing of the people of Kano State.
