Unity, Tolerance Key to Societal Development – Dambatta District Head
The District Head of Dambatta and Sarkin Ban Kano, Dr. Mansur Muktar Adnan, has emphasized unity, tolerance, and perseverance as essential ingredients for societal development.
Dr. Adnan made the remark during a reception organized in honour of Professor Kabiru Abdussalam following his elevation to professorial rank and appointment as Chief Consultant Chemical Pathologist by the Senate of Bayero University Kano. Represented at the event by Alhaji Baba Ado, the District Head highlighted the importance of mutual respect and cooperation among community members, stressing that societal challenges can only be overcome through collective efforts. He also commended the people of Yanbanga for organizing the reception in honour of the Professor, who hails from the area, urging them to sustain such gestures.
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Haruna Musa, described Professor Abdussalam as one of the outstanding scholars in the institution who has distinguished himself in research and academic excellence. He explained that the University conferred the professional position and consultancy role on him in recognition of his contributions to academic development and medical research, urging him to intensify efforts toward further scholarly breakthroughs.
Also speaking, the District Head of Makoda, Architect Ali Mukhtar, praised Professor Abdussalam for his humanitarian contributions to communities across the area and encouraged him to remain steadfast in his responsibilities. Similarly, former Chairman of Dambatta Local Government, Alhaji Musa Alhassan, noted that the event was organized to serve as a morale booster and to encourage others to emulate such recognition of academic and humanitarian achievements.
Other dignitaries who spoke at the event included Dr. Musa Gambo Takai of the Federal Teaching Hospital Katsina, Professor Abdullahi Hamisu, Associate Professor Zainab Uba Ibrahim, Dr. Suraj Kasimu, and Professor Aminu Bukar of the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and Bayero University Kano, respectively. They commended Professor Abdussalam for his selfless service to humanity and dedication to professional excellence.
In his response, Professor Abdussalam expressed appreciation to the traditional leaders, academic community, and dignitaries who attended the event, describing the honour as a motivation to continue contributing to healthcare and academic development. The event also featured presentation of gifts by relatives, associates, and well-wishers from within and outside the local government area, attracting participants from various professional and social backgrounds.
