EMPOWERING THOUSANDS, IGNORING THE NOISE: BARAU JIBRIN”S KANO AGENDA.

EMPOWERING THOUSANDS, IGNORING THE NOISE: BARAU JIBRIN”S KANO AGENDA.

…Politics of hate vs politics of impact: The Barau Jibrin difference.

By Shariff Aminu Ahlan

There is no gainsaying the fact that Kano State is currently witnessing a turbulent political atmosphere. The state’s political horizon is visibly tense and highly charged, fueled by growing anticipation surrounding the possible decamping of a former governor to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside a significant number of his cabinet members and political appointees.

This anticipated move has been interpreted differently across political divides. To some, it is seen as a treacherous and deadly revolt against his former political godfather and mentor, Engineer Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso. This interpretation is largely championed by those uncomfortable with the governor’s decision to decamp. To others, however, the move is widely regarded as a masterstroke of political independence, one that freed the governor from excessive control, extortion, and needless interference that had stifled his progressive agenda, crippled his political future, and reduced him to a lifeless stooge merely waiting for directives from an all-powerful godfather.

As this drama unfolds, the APC, the destination of the governor, has itself become a battleground of intense internal power struggles. High-profile stakeholders are locked in fierce political arm-twisting, trading accusations and counter-accusations laced with malice, exaggeration, and falsehoods. Each camp is desperately seeking relevance and dominance as the march toward the 2027 general elections gathers momentum.

Unsurprisingly, multiple factions have emerged within the APC, each with its loyal supporters and political foot soldiers openly identifying with different power blocs and clamouring for supremacy. This, in itself, is not unusual in politics. Political competition is natural, and everyone is free to campaign for and celebrate their preferred leaders.

However, the irony, and indeed the most disturbing aspect of the entire political brouhaha is the repeated, coordinated, and relentless attacks targeted at one individual: the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin.

Malicious, unfounded, concocted, unmerited, and wickedly orchestrated allegations have been persistently directed at him. These attacks are largely engineered by politicians who are visibly threatened by his rising political profile and his open closeness to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Senator Barau Jibrin’s growing influence and massive grassroots acceptance have clearly robbed his detractors of sleep. Consequently, attacking him with speed, intensity, and total commitment has become their daily political routine.

In their desperation, some have shamelessly questioned his rapid rise and increasing popularity, deliberately ignoring a fundamental truth: his unique performance, people-oriented policies, and consistent delivery of dividends of democracy have naturally earned him widespread acceptance. The people are not confused—they are responding to leadership that delivers.

Despite the naked hatred and sustained attacks, Senator Barau Jibrin has remained calm, undisturbed, and steadfast. Rather than engaging in verbal battles or descending into political mudslinging, he has chosen a higher path, one defined by service, compassion, and development.

Recently, the Deputy Senate President unveiled a massive capital development and empowerment initiative designed to benefit thousands of people across Kano State, particularly within the Kano North Senatorial District. At the heart of this intervention is a Free Capital Support Scheme, which will provide a grant of ₦10,000,000 to 100 beneficiaries in each local government of Kano North.

This programme is structured as a monthly initiative running from February to December, with 1,300 individuals benefiting every month, culminating in a total of 15,600 beneficiaries within twelve months.

In addition, 130 vehicles will be distributed to transport associations under the Kano North Transport Services scheme to enhance economic productivity, mobility, and overall well-being.

Furthermore, 1,000 motorcycles will be distributed to commercial riders, headmasters, teachers, students, and other beneficiaries. 1,300 bicycles will be given to students, while 1,300 noodle-making machines, each accompanied by a bag of flour, will be distributed to support small-scale entrepreneurs. Also included are 1,300 deep freezers aimed at strengthening small businesses and improving livelihoods.

To promote youth development and sports, each local government in Kano North will receive kits for 150 football teams, including jerseys and footballs, bringing the total to 1,950 teams. Notably, this laudable gesture will not be limited to Kano Northq alone, as it will also be extended to Kano Central and Kano South Senatorial Districts.

While some politicians choose to fight, shout, and trade insults in their quest for relevance, Senator Barau Jibrin continues to build lives, empower communities, and restore hope to thousands of people across Kano State.

This is the leadership he understands and has mastered, development over drama, service over noise, and impact over empty rhetoric. Rather than responding to hopeless political challengers who are steadily losing relevance and desperately searching for scapegoats to vent their anger and frustration, Senator Barau Jibrin remains focused on what truly matters: the people and their future.

In the end, history may remember the noise—but the people will forever remember the one who delivered.
