FG Praises Kano for Setting Social Protection Benchmark

The Federal Government has applauded Kano State for establishing a new benchmark in humanitarian governance and social protection delivery across the country.
The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Muhammad Doro, gave the commendation while receiving a delegation from the Kano State Social Protection Agency (KASPA), led by the Director General, Hajia Fatima Abubakar Abdullahi (Amneef), during a courtesy visit to the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.

In a statement signed by Rabiu Khalil Kura Director Public Enlightenment of the Agency stressed that, According to Dr. Doro Kano State has demonstrated exceptional leadership by creating the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction and strengthening KASPA as a central coordinating body for social protection interventions. He described these reforms as a clear reflection of the State Government’s commitment to safeguarding the poor and vulnerable.
The Minister reaffirmed the Federal Ministry’s alignment with Kano State’s progressive initiatives and pledged to direct the State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction to intensify collaboration with KASPA. This, he said, would enhance synergy, streamline programme delivery, and build community resilience.

He further announced that Kano State will be among the beneficiaries of the forthcoming National Humanitarian Council, an initiative designed to bring together state humanitarian institutions and federal stakeholders to harmonize efforts for improved national coordination.
Dr. Doro emphasized the importance of credible data in humanitarian programming and encouraged KASPA to continue strengthening its validated and inclusive social register in line with national standards. He also urged the Agency to adopt global best practices to enhance its operational effectiveness.
Earlier, the Director General of KASPA highlighted the State’s achievements in livelihood support, agricultural inputs distribution, economic empowerment, and targeted welfare programmes. She also presented priority areas where federal collaboration, technical assistance, and capacity development would further reinforce the State’s humanitarian architecture.
The courtesy visit ended with both the Federal Ministry and KASPA renewing their commitment to deepen institutional partnership and expand support for vulnerable households across Kano State.
