The Kano State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all 44 Local Government Chairmen in the state align with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s people-centered governance philosophy.

This assurance was given by the Special Adviser to the Governor, Hajiya Maryam Bunkure, during an engagement with the Public Relations Officer of Bichi Local Government, Jamila Abdullahi Rijiyar Lemo, during an official visit to the area.

Hajiya Maryam noted that the administration is committed to identifying and supporting the most dedicated and hardworking chairmen who are driving meaningful development in their communities. She added that public feedback plays a key role in this assessment, emphasizing the positive responses received from residents across Bichi’s markets and neighborhoods regarding the performance of the current Chairman.

She explained that criteria for recognizing chairmen who best reflect Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s leadership style include: closeness to the people and party members through active engagement, support for education, community empowerment initiatives, and responsiveness to public welfare needs. Those who excel in these areas will be duly acknowledged.

“We visited Bichi Local Government and witnessed firsthand the enthusiasm and prayers of goodwill from residents,” she said. “We evaluated which Chairman is closest to the people, who engages with community issues, and who supports residents in times of illness, educational needs, empowerment, and other welfare concerns. Their performance in these areas will determine their chances of recognition.”

Hajiya Maryam further called on all Local Government Chairmen in the state to embrace this healthy competition, designed to measure their impact through project implementation and service delivery at the grassroots level.

“My message to them is simple: remember the people who elected you. From campaign to leadership, every chairman should emulate the Governor—who governs for all. Local Government Chairmen must be leaders for every community member, regardless of political affiliation. During our visit, more than twenty APC members testified to the benefits they have received under the current ad

ministration.”
