Katsina Trains Over 1,200 Graduates in Data and Digital Skills
Governor Radda: “We Now Plan With Facts, Not Assumptions”

The Katsina State Government has trained over 1,200 graduates in Data Analysis and Digital Skills under its Data for Development Initiative, aimed at promoting digital inclusion and evidence-based planning.
Governor Dikko Umar Radda disclosed this while commemorating the 2025 World Statistics Day, themed “Driving Change with Quality Statistics and Data for Everyone.”

He revealed that 500 statistical officers have also been trained and deployed across the 34 Local Government Areas to strengthen data management and development planning at the grassroots level.

Radda explained that findings from a Community Data Mapping Survey covering 2,800 rural communities now guide the state’s 2025–2027 Medium-Term Development Plan.
He further highlighted key milestones, including the launch of the Statistical Master Plan (2025–2030) and the creation of Data Desks for Women and Youth Affairs to promote inclusion and empowerment programs.
According to him, data-driven initiatives have enabled the state to support over 10,000 households and 30,000 children in areas of food security, nutrition, and income improvement.
Governor Radda described statistics as “the new currency of development,” emphasizing that Katsina now plans with facts, not assumptions. He added that data plays a key role in improving security and humanitarian response through the State Situation Room, which monitors incidents and relief activities in real time.
He commended the efforts of statisticians and development partners such as the World Bank, UNICEF, UNDP, European Union (EU), Canada, Norway, and Gavi for supporting Katsina State’s ongoing data revolution.
