KHETFUND Boosts Healthcare Education with N4 Million Accreditation Grant for Kano School of Health Technology

Funding ensures national accreditation for National and Higher National Diploma programs, strengthening the state’s health workforce.
The Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the state’s health institutions through strategic funding, following a successful verification visit to the School of Health Technology Kano. The visit, conducted on October 15th, was a critical step for the accreditation of the school’s National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programs by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

This milestone was made possible by a N4 million intervention fund released by KHETFUND on June 23rd, 2025, dedicated to securing the NBTE accreditation.
The Executive Secretary of KHETFUND, Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen, emphasized that the support aligns with the state government’s dedication to developing a qualified health workforce. “We at KHETFUND are dedicated to improving the quality of education and health services in Kano State through strategic funding and partnerships,” Dr. Zahraddeen stated. “This intervention underscores the commitment of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, to support quality education and build a robust healthcare system for our people.”
She further commended the leadership of the School of Health Technology for their commitment to maintaining high standards and highlighted the broader impact of the accreditation. “The NBTE accreditation will enable the institution to offer nationally recognized certifications, significantly boosting the employability and professional competency of its graduates,” she added.
The Principal of the School of Health Technology Kano, Rakiya Mukhtar, expressed profound gratitude for KHETFUND’s support. “This funding is a testament to KHETFUND’s unwavering dedication to quality education in the state,” she said. “The accreditation will elevate the status of our institution and guarantee that our graduates are well-equipped to meet the evolving demands of the healthcare industry. It allows us to expand our training capacity and strengthen our role in supporting the nation’s healthcare workforce.”
The NBTE accreditation ensures that the diplomas awarded by the School of Health Technology Kano are recognized nationwide, enhancing the professional prospects of its students and contributing to a higher standard of healthcare delivery across Kano State and Nigeria.
