Kano State Executive Council Approves ₦45.6 Billion for Critical Development Projects

The Kano State Executive Council, presided over by His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a massive investment of Forty-Five Billion, Six Hundred and Eleven Million Naira (₦45,611,294,606.04) for the execution of critical projects across key sectors of the state’s economy.
The approval, granted during the Council’s 32nd meeting held on Friday, 3rd October 2025, underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to accelerating development and improving the lives of its citizens.

A significant portion of the funds, over ₦32.5 Billion, is dedicated to the Works and Infrastructure sector, reaffirming it as a top priority. Major projects in this sector include the reconstruction of roads within Farm Centre, Tarauni LGA, the dualization of the Kofar Dawanau–Dandinshe–Kwanar Madugu Road, and the supply and installation of solar-powered streetlights across 55 locations in the metropolis.

Key Sectoral Allocations Include, Education which was allocated ₦7.78 Billion For the general rehabilitation of several prominent schools, including Government Technical College and the School for Arabic Studies, renovation of classrooms across 44 LGAs, and settlement of boarding school feeding suppliers.
Health was allocated the sum of ₦802 Million For the procurement of medical equipment for Imam Wali General Hospital, upgrading of a primary health centre in Gwale LGA, and settling an inherited liability for a health centre project from 2018, Internal Security allocated ₦796 Million To augment the procurement of 455 motorcycles for the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch, enhancing grassroots security, while Religious Affairs was allocated the sum of ₦1 Billion) For the conduct of mass weddings (Auren Zaurawa).
Beyond project approvals, the Council witnessed the swearing-in of two new Commissioners: Barrister Abdulkarim Kabir Maude, SAN, as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, and Dr. Aliyu Isah Aliyu, as Commissioner for Livestock Development. Barrister Salisu Muhammad Tahir was also sworn in as the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice.

Furthermore, the Council received the Committee Report on the review of the Draft Framework for the Kano State Mining Policy, chaired by the Deputy Governor.
During the period under review, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf received several prestigious awards in recognition of his exemplary leadership. These include the Distinguished Award of Appreciation from the Kano Cooperative Federation, an Award of Excellence from the Association of Local Government Information Officers (ALGION), and recognition at the Africa 2025 Annual Conference for exceptional governance.
Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, stated, “These approvals reflect our focused determination to deliver on our promises to the people of Kano. We are investing in the very pillars of a prosperous society: education, healthcare, infrastructure, and security. This is a clear demonstration of our commitment to building a better Kano for all.”
