Kano State Launches Landmark 40th Annual Qur’anic Recitation Competition

The prestigious 40th Qur’anic Recitation Competition officially commenced today in a ceremony at the Kano State School for Arabic Studies (SAS). The event, organized by the Kano State Musabaka Board of Trustees in partnership with the State Ministry for Religious Affairs, celebrates decades of promoting Islamic knowledge and spiritual excellence.
Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Ahmad Tijjani Auwalu, inaugurated the competition on behalf of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. In his opening address, Governor Yusuf conveyed his full support for the initiative, highlighting its vital role in the state’s developmental and spiritual landscape.

The Governor took the opportunity to commend Nigeria’s recent remarkable achievement at an international Qur’anic competition in Saudi Arabia, where the nation secured third place globally. He specifically noted the pride brought to Kano State by a native candidate who was instrumental in this international success.
“His Excellency’s Government will continue to support Islamic activities that promote development,” Governor Yusuf stated, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to initiatives that foster moral and educational growth.

The Chairman of the Kano State Musabaka Board of Trustees, Sheikh Ibrahim Mai Hula, expressed profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for the blessing of hosting another successful competition. He also extended his appreciation to the members of the Board of Trustees for their dedication and sought Allah’s continued blessings on the event.
Echoing these sentiments, the State Coordinator of the Board of Trustees, Mallam Abdurrahman Tijjani Mu’azu, offered thanks to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the state government’s unwavering support, which has been crucial to the competition’s longevity and success.
The 40th Qur’anic Recitation Competition brings together talented reciters from across the state to compete in various categories, showcasing their mastery of Tajweed and melodic recitation. The event is a cornerstone of Kano’s Islamic cultural calendar, aiming to nurture a deep connection with the Holy Qur’an among the youth and the wider community.
