Prof. Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim Assumes Role as DG of KSPHCMB

The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) has welcomed Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim as its new Director General, effective July 2025. His appointment signals a renewed commitment to enhancing accessible, quality primary health care services across the state.
Upon his arrival, Professor Salisu was received by the board’s management and staff, after which he conducted an extensive familiarization tour of the facility. Engaging with various departments and personnel, he gained direct insight into the board’s operations, challenges, and opportunities—demonstrating his hands-on leadership approach and dedication to accountability and operational excellence.

In his inaugural address, the new DG outlined his vision for a more efficient, people-centered primary health care system. He underscored the importance of discipline, punctuality, and professionalism in driving institutional transformation.
“To elevate our service delivery and staff performance, we must embrace a culture of dedication, hard work, and collective responsibility. Every team member’s contribution is vital to our success,” he stated.
Key priorities under his leadership include staff welfare, capacity development, and modernizing primary health care through digital innovation, data-driven strategies, and robust supervision. He also affirmed his commitment to collaborating with stakeholders at all levels to strengthen Kano’s health care infrastructure.

A seasoned administrator and reformist, Professor Salisu brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as Director General of the Kano State Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) from 2023 to 2025. His reputation for transparency and excellence has earned him widespread respect in Nigeria’s health and academic sectors.
The KSPHCMB management and staff have expressed confidence that his tenure will usher in a new era of progress, reinforcing the board’s mandate to serve the people of Kano State effectively.
