The Kano State Government, through the State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA), has officially commissioned the Original Water Scheme in Sumaila Town. This landmark initiative marks a significant step forward in the government’s commitment to providing clean, reliable, and sustainable water access to rural communities across the state.
The commissioning ceremony was led by Engineer Shamwilu Abdulkadir Isah Tsamiyya Babba, Managing Director of RUWASA, who emphasized the transformative impact of the project on the lives of Sumaila residents. He stated that the completion of the water scheme will not only improve the overall quality of life for the community but also address long-standing challenges related to water scarcity.
Engineer Shamwilu highlighted that the project, which includes the drilling of boreholes, is designed to provide a dependable source of clean drinking water, aligning with the state’s broader efforts to ensure water access for all. He expressed confidence that the scheme will deliver its intended benefits and serve as a model for future initiatives in other rural areas.
During the event, Mustapha Ola, Personal Assistant (PA) to the Chairman of Sumaila Local Government, commended the Kano State Government and RUWASA for their dedication to improving water infrastructure. He urged the residents of Sumaila to fully cooperate with the project team to ensure the sustainability of the scheme and to collectively work towards ending water scarcity in the region.
In his remarks, Malan Dattijo, Party Chairman of Sumaila Local Government, expressed gratitude to the RUWASA team for their efforts and assured them of the community’s continued support. He reiterated the importance of such initiatives in fostering development and improving the well-being of rural populations.
The successful commissioning of the Original Water Scheme in Sumaila Town underscores the Kano State Government’s unwavering commitment to addressing critical infrastructure needs and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.
