In a bid to improve the living standards of women at the grassroots level, the Warawa Local Government Council has distributed red goats to 150 women across the 13 wards of the area.
According to Alh Lamido Sanusi Ahmad, Chairman of Warawa Local Government Council, this gesture is in line with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration resolve to empower women. “We urge the beneficiaries to take good care of the goats, as this initiative aims is to promote economic independence and self-sufficiency among women,” he said.
The Chairman emphasized the importance of women as home managers, encouraging them to rear the animals to prosperity, enabling them to grow from strength to strength. He also assured that their male counterparts would continue to receive food palliatives as part of the NNPP administration’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of citizens.
In her remarks Hajia Hajara Shehu, Women leader for NNPP in Warawa, expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the kind gesture, assuring that more dividends of democracy are forthcoming. Beneficiaries like Azima Alhassan thanked the Governor for the initiative, promising to utilize the goats judiciously.
