KNSG To Reposition Transport Sector For Economic Growth

Kano State government Says a plans is Underway for the repositioning of transport sector to enhance the economic growth of the state.
The state commissioner of Transport Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Diggol, disclosed this at a mini workshop for newTransport Policy development and implementation in Kano state organized for stakeholders from the state ministries and other government agencies.

Engineer Muhammad Ibrahim Diggol who said the workshop was inline with Kano state government plans in ensuring effective transport policy so as to compete with other advanced countries in the glove.

The commissioner further spoke on the significance of Transport sector in the internally generated revenue maintained that when govt fully implemented the policy Kano will become at the forefront in the sector across the country nad world at large

He however said the meeting will also serve as an avenue to critically look and discuss the issue of the transport Policy which he said is part of the state government’s commitment to make Kano a mega city through the provision of infrastructures across the state.

Engr. Diggol also said already government has put place a plans the will redesign all motor Parks in the state with modern facilities and transportation system like others advanced countries.

Presenting the summary and overview of Transport Policy components and it’s relevance in repositioning transport sector in Kano state, Dr Nura Ibrahim Hassan said the important of the implementation of the Policy in state as commercial nerve center can never be over emphasize.

Dr. Nura Ibrahim then called on the all the stakeholders in the transport system and other individuals to embrace the policy so as to move the state forward in this direction.

Also speaking the former Managing Director Abuja Mass Transit Company Dr Najeeb Mahmoud Abdulsalam commended Kano state government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his foresight to repositioning transport sector, maintained that the importance of Transport policy in transportation planning in state as one of the most cosmopolitan area in the country can never be over emphasize.

Earlier the Director in the ministry and expert on the transport system, engineer Musa Mahmoud Dan sarki present a paper on the role of MDAs in the implementation of Transport Policy in Kano state.

Other who spoke at the occasion included professor F.Falola who said that government is spending a lot of resources in transport sector which needs to be reviewed for the betterment of the citizens and called for continuty.
