Kano Govt Dismisses Sagagi’s Claims as False and Misleading
The attention of the Kano State Government has been drawn to a misleading and unfounded statement credited to the immediate past Commissioner of Investment, Commerce and Industry, Shehu Wada Sagagi, alleging that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf defected to the APC out of fear of being denied the opportunity to contest for a second term under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The Kano State Government categorically states that this claim is false, baseless, and a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and distort the true reasons behind the Governor’s political realignment.
For the avoidance of doubt, the decision by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to realign politically was made in the overriding interest of peace, unity, and sustainable development of Kano State. It is a strategic and well-considered move aimed at consolidating progress, strengthening collaboration, and ensuring that the benefits of democracy are enjoyed by all citizens without discrimination.
The insinuation that the Governor acted out of fear of not securing a second-term ticket is not only misleading but also ignores his strong political base, widespread acceptance, and proven record of service delivery. The Governor remains committed to the “Kano First” agenda, which prioritizes the welfare of the people, infrastructural development, economic growth, and social stability.
The public is therefore urged to disregard the statement credited to Shehu Wada Sagagi, as it does not reflect the true situation. The Kano State Government remains steadfast in its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the continued development of the state.
The present administration will not be distracted by baseless allegations or unpatriotic sentiments but will remain focused on delivering its mandate to the people of Kano State.
