AKCILS Begins Golden Jubilee Activities with Special Qur’anic Recitation

The Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS), Kano, has officially commenced activities marking its forthcoming 50th Anniversary with a special Qur’anic recitation aimed at seeking divine blessings for a successful celebration. The spiritually significant event was held at the College’s Sheikh Assir Central Mosque, drawing participation from members of the organizing committee, management, staff, and students.
The Qur’anic recitation reflects the College’s long-standing tradition, upheld under the leadership of the Provost, Prof. Balarabe Abubakar Jakada, of initiating major institutional milestones with prayers and supplications. This approach underscores the institution’s commitment to seeking Allah’s guidance and intervention in achieving its objectives.

The Golden Jubilee celebration, scheduled to commence on Monday, 27 April 2026, will feature a series of activities designed to showcase the College’s achievements and contributions to Islamic and legal education over the past five decades. The anniversary is expected to attract stakeholders from across the academic and religious communities.
Speaking after the recitation, the Provost, Prof. Jakada, described the occasion as both memorable and emotional, expressing gratitude to Allah for the opportunity to witness the historic milestone. He also commended the organizing committee for prioritizing spiritual preparations ahead of the main events, noting that such efforts are vital to the success of the celebration.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Deputy Provost (Academics), Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, stated that the Qur’anic recitation and prayers would continue periodically until the commencement of the main anniversary events. He emphasized that the initiative is aimed at ensuring a peaceful, successful, and memorable Golden Jubilee, adding that the event attracted renowned Qur’anic reciters from within and outside the College, highlighting its importance.
