Bagwai Traders Seek Urgent Upgrade of Marafa Tomato Market Facilities

Traders and key stakeholders in Bagwai Local Government Area have called on the Executive Chairman to urgently provide critical social amenities at the newly established Marafa Tomato Market to enhance business operations and improve traders’ welfare.
The appeal was made during a stakeholder engagement convened by the Information Officer, Malam Shehu Bello Shanono, which brought together traders, tomato dealers, and other relevant participants.

During the session, stakeholders highlighted the need for the construction of well-structured market stalls, provision of potable water, and the establishment of a mosque within the market. They noted that these facilities are essential for creating an organized, hygienic, and business-friendly environment.
Participants emphasized that the absence of such basic infrastructure could hinder the growth of the market, reduce the efficiency of commercial activities, and affect the comfort of both buyers and sellers.
Speaking during the engagement, the Chairman of Tomato Dealers, Alhassan Usman, described the requests as necessary and urged the Local Government Chairman to act promptly. He added that providing stalls and clean water would help protect traders’ health and support sustainable business operations.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Market Traders Association, Ya’u Shafiu Kwajale, stressed the importance of constructing a mosque within the market to enable traders to conveniently observe their religious obligations without interrupting their daily activities.
He also commended the government’s efforts in other areas and expressed optimism that the appeal would receive timely consideration.
Stakeholders collectively urged the Bagwai Local Government authorities to treat the request with urgency to ensure that the Marafa Tomato Market evolves into a model of organization, cleanliness, and economic growth.
