Ganduje Faults Kwankwaso’s Comments, Welcomes Abba Yusuf’s Expected Return to APC

Former Governor of Kano State and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has expressed displeasure over recent remarks allegedly made against him by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing them as inappropriate and unhelpful to the peace and unity of Kano State.
This was disclosed by the Director-General of the National Productivity Centre, Dr. Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, while speaking to journalists. According to him, Dr. Ganduje personally conveyed his dissatisfaction with the comments attributed to Senator Kwankwaso.
“Dr. Ganduje made it clear to me that he was deeply unhappy with the remarks made against him, particularly the reference allegedly used while addressing supporters,” Dan’agundi said.
He explained that the comments were made at a time when Senator Kwankwaso was also accusing the Kano State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, of plans to take control of state institutions for political purposes—an allegation Ganduje reportedly viewed as unnecessary and divisive.
Dr. Ganduje, according to Dan’agundi, stressed that Kano State currently needs unity, peace, and collective effort toward development rather than political tensions and personal attacks.
He further noted that the anticipated return of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to the APC should be seen as an opportunity for reconciliation and cooperation among political leaders in the state.
“In Dr. Ganduje’s view, the expected return of the Governor to the APC should serve as a platform for all leaders to come together, put aside differences, and work for the progress of Kano State,” Dan’agundi stated.
Dr. Ganduje also emphasized that, given their age and vast political experience, both he and Senator Kwankwaso should now assume the role of elder statesmen and avoid prolonged political rivalry.
“He believes there is no justification for continued conflict, especially as both leaders have reached a stage where personal political ambition should give way to statesmanship,” Dan’agundi added.
Commenting on reports of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s move to rejoin the APC, Dr. Dan’agundi described the development as a source of joy and renewed hope for the party in Kano State.
“It is a welcome development. APC leaders, stakeholders, and supporters across Kano State are excited and ready to give the Governor maximum support and cooperation,” he said.
He disclosed that preparations to officially receive the Governor into the party are already at an advanced stage, with consultations ongoing at both national and state levels.
Dan’agundi explained that the brief delay in finalizing arrangements was due to the Umrah pilgrimage of the Kano State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, and the absence of Dr. Ganduje, who is currently outside the country.
“Once they return, a special meeting will be held with His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his team to conclude the process,” he assured.
He concluded by praying for unity and stability in Kano State, expressing hope that the Governor’s anticipated return to the APC would usher in lasting peace, progress, and development for the state and its people.
