Mangal Foundation Funds N257 Million in Medical Care for 21,000 Vulnerable Patients in Katsina

The Mangal Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has announced the coverage of medical bills exceeding Two Hundred and Fifty-Seven Million Naira (N257,000,000) for approximately 21,000 vulnerable patients in Katsina State since its establishment in 2016.
The disclosure was made by Alhaji Hassan Kabir, a member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, during a recent patient screening event for eye conditions held in Katsina.

Detailing the scope of the intervention, Kabir outlined the foundation’s significant investments across critical healthcare areas. Specifically, the foundation allocated over N140 million for the treatment of about 3,000 urology patients, more than N30 million for medical attention to over 17,000 patients with various eye problems, and not less than N87 million to support over 1,000 patients suffering from hernia and hydrocele.

“Our aim is to ease the financial burden of healthcare for vulnerable individuals who struggle to meet basic needs,” stated Alhaji Kabir. “Patients with minor ailments were examined, treated, given free medication, and discharged. Those requiring surgery had their operations fully funded by the foundation, including all associated expenses until discharge.”
He emphasized the foundation’s commitment to quality, noting, “We have engaged some of the best medical teams and procured high-quality drugs and equipment for these interventions.” The foundation’s work has also extended to sponsoring thousands of surgical procedures for patients from neighboring states and the Niger Republic.
Healthcare professionals on the ground have praised the initiative. Malam Ibrahim Lawal-Rabo, an ophthalmic nurse at the Katsina Eye Centre, commended the foundation’s efforts, noting their significance in complementing government initiatives and bridging healthcare gaps, especially amidst the current economic challenges.
Beneficiaries of the programme expressed profound gratitude, urging other government agencies, private organizations, and philanthropic individuals to emulate the Mangal Foundation’s humanitarian gesture.
