Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman Appointed as New Vice Chancellor of Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA)

The Governing Council of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) has approved the appointment of Professor Mohammed Khalid Othman as the new substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution.
The announcement was made by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, His Excellency Ali Abubakar Jatau, following the Council’s 36th Special Meeting held at the Grand Amber Hotel and Suites in Dutse, Jigawa State.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Information and Protocol, Nasiru Abdul, the appointment of Prof. Othman was made after a rigorous and transparent selection process, based on the report of the Joint Council/Senate Selection Board.
Out of 28 applicants for the position, and three additional candidates identified by the Search Team, 17 shortlisted candidates were interviewed. After a detailed evaluation, the Selection Board recommended the top three candidates, from which Prof. Othman emerged as the best-performing and most qualified for the role.
Born on July 22, 1962, in Bindawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, Prof. Othman is a renowned Agricultural Engineer and academic scholar. He holds B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Agricultural Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he has also served in various academic and administrative capacities.
Prof. Othman’s career in academia spans decades of excellence—from his early years as an Assistant Lecturer to his rise as a Professor. He previously served as the Executive Director of the National Agricultural Extension Research and Liaison Services (NAERLS), ABU Zaria, and is currently an internal member of the FUDMA Governing Council, representing the Senate.
His appointment marks a new chapter in the leadership of Federal University Dutsin-Ma, with high expectations for advancing academic excellence, innovation, and institutional growth
