Dawakin Tofa Local Government Sponsors 71 Indigenous Students for Health Science Programmes

In a significant investment in education and healthcare development, the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Council has sponsored seventy-one (71) indigenous students for both Ordinary National Diploma and National Diploma (OND/ND) programmes at the Kano State Colleges of Health Science and Technology.
The initiative, designed to build local capacity in critical healthcare fields, was formalized at a ceremony where admission letters were presented to the successful beneficiaries.
The Council Chairman, Alhaji Anas Mukhtar Bello Danmaliki, who presided over the event, emphasized that, the programme’s objective is to empower the youth of Dawakin Tofa with quality education and specialized skills in the vital health sector.
“This sponsorship scheme is a cornerstone of our administration’s commitment to human capital development,” stated Hon. Danmaliki. “By investing in the education of our indigenous students, we are not only shaping their individual futures but also strengthening the healthcare infrastructure of our community and Kano State at large. We expect these students to become exemplary ambassadors of Dawakin Tofa.”
The selection process was thorough and merit-based.Earlier in his remarks, The Chairman of the Local Government Scholarship Committee, Alhaji Abdullahi Mijinyawa, explained that prospective beneficiaries were nominated from across all wards of the local government area. “These candidates underwent a rigorous screening exercise to verify their academic qualifications and ensure they met all necessary requirements for admission”.
Alhaji Mijinyawa commended the Council Chairman for his unwavering support and visionary leadership in approving the sponsorship, highlighting its potential to address the shortage of skilled health professionals at the grassroots level.
The sponsored students will undertake their studies across the college’s campuses in Kano, Bebeji, and School of Hygiene. They are enrolled in a diverse range of critical healthcare programmes, including:
· Community Health
· Dental Technology
· Pharmacy Technology
· Optometry
· Biomedical Engineering
· Health Information Management
· Food and Nutrition
This sponsorship covers the full cost of the students’ tuition and other relevant fees for the duration of their OND and ND programmes.
