Building a Strong APC in Kano State: The Pathway to National Respect and Electoral Success

Building a Strong APC in Kano State: The Pathway to National Respect and Electoral Success

As Niccolo Machiavelli noted, power is the ultimate goal of politics, and winning elections is a crucial means of acquiring and maintaining that power. Similarly, Max Weber defined power as the ability to get what one wants even when facing opposition. Other scholars like Harold Lasswell and Abraham Kaplan view power as shaping and sharing influence, while Robert Dahl sees power as a kind of influence exercised when compliance is attained by creating the prospect of severe sanctions for non-compliance.

With these definitions as our guide, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State stands at a critical juncture, with the 2027 general election looming on the horizon. To remain relevant in national politics, the party must put aside its internal differences and work towards a common goal. If the APC in Kano State wants to remain relevant in national politics, it’s high time for the leaders of APC in Kano to unite and strategize towards achieving success in 2027.

Yes, we have the advantage; all we need to do is put our house in order and remove sentiments. Winning the gubernatorial and general elections in 2027 is the only thing that will make APC and its leaders be respected in national politics, not just by the people of Kano, but also by national leaders.

The party’s success in the 2027 election will depend on its ability to build a strong grassroots organization, develop effective campaign strategies, engage with voters, and showcase its achievements and policies. By working together and focusing on the needs of Kano people, the APC can increase its chances of success and solidify its position in national politics.

With the defection of Senator from Kano South to the APC and now having two Senatorial Districts to our advantage (i.e., Kano North and Kano South), the party’s prospects in the state have indeed received a significant boost. The potential defection of members of the House of Representatives could further strengthen the party’s position. Building on this momentum will require a well-coordinated campaign strategy that showcases the party’s achievements and policies.

Engaging with voters, listening to their concerns, and addressing their needs will be crucial in increasing the party’s chances of success in the 2027 elections. By leveraging the experience and influence of the defecting senator and potential House of Representatives members, the APC can solidify its base, expand its reach, and present a united front to the electorate. Effective campaign messaging, grassroots mobilization, and strategic alliances will be essential in achieving this goal.

We want to be respected nationally, let’s build our Party, the APC, in Kano State. Furthermore, the party should prioritize issues that resonate with the people of Kano, such as economic development, security, education, youth empowerment, provision of tap water, agriculture, health, and social welfare. By doing so, the APC can demonstrate its commitment to the well-being of the state’s citizens and increase its appeal to voters.

Additionally, the party should ensure that its internal democracy is strengthened, allowing for a fair and transparent nomination process that reflects the will of the people. I have spoken my mind and I believe it’s high time to think inwards and make APC in Kano State the stronghold in National Politics.
