A local newspaper vendor, Lawan Muhd Kiru, is overwhelmed with gratitude after being granted a fully sponsored Hajj seat—a life-changing opportunity made possible through an unexpected connection with a former customer, His Excellency, Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State.
Lawan Kiru, who has spent decades selling newspapers, recently shared his incredible story with media representatives in Makkah. He recounted how a simple interaction nearly thirty years ago—when Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, then an ordinary citizen, purchased a newspaper from him in Abuja—led to an extraordinary act of generosity.
Despite the passage of time, that brief encounter left a lasting impression. When the Governor learned of Kiru’s story through a mutual acquaintance, he personally arranged for the vendor’s Hajj pilgrimage, covering all expenses.
