Citizens are the oxygen, lifeblood and most important elements of democracy in both advanced and less advanced systems infusing it with vitality and dynamism. Their participation is not merely a right, but a responsibility that underpins the very fabric of democratic governance. By engaging in the democratic process, citizens will:

Electing the right and competent representatives who embody their societal values (religion, culture, tradition, environment etc) and vision.
*Engage in civic activities:
Contributing to community development and social welfare.
*Advocate for rights and freedoms:
Promoting social justice and equality and responsibility.

Ensuring transparency and responsiveness as well as accountability.
