- Commissioner HOD Celebrates International Women’s Day, Lauds Kano Governor’s Support for Women’s Development

The Honourable Commissioner, Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Disabled, Amina Abdullahi Sani HOD, saluted women across the globe on International Women’s Day, while also hailing Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his strong commitment to women’s empowerment.
Speaking at a press conference to commemorate International Women’s Day, Commissioner Amina Abdullahi Sani HOD praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s efforts to promote gender equity and empower women in Kano State.
She highlighted the governor’s initiatives aimed at enhancing women’s participation in politics, economy, and education.
Amina HOD highlighted that International Women’s Day is a global celebration of women’s achievements, while also acknowledging the ongoing struggle for gender equity . It is a day to recognize the significant contributions women make to our society, economy, and politics.
According to her this year’s theme, ‘For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment, resonates deeply with our commitment to promoting women’s empowerment and social inclusion in Kano State.
She added that “we are reminded at this day that despite progress, women and girls continue to face significant barriers to equity including discrimination, violence, and limited access to education and economic opportunities. It is our collective responsibility to address these challenges and work towards creating a more just and equitable society.
The commissioner also hailed state’s government’s blueprint that serves as a guiding document of governance, out of which there is a solid pillar titled:’ Youth and Women Empowerment. This shows how committed and passionate this administration is towards making women’s lives more sustainable and improving their affordability of living.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day today, I urge all journalists around the globe to continue shining a light on the achievements, challenges, and aspirations of women and girls in our society.
