PHIMA CONCLUDES MOP-UP REGISTRATION OF TRADITIONAL MEDICINE PRACTITIONERS

The Kano State Private Health Institution Management Agency has successfully concluded the mop-up exercise for the registration of traditional medicine practitioners in the state. This exercise was organized to address complaints from practitioners who were unable to register during the rainy season.


Speaking at the Agency’s Conference Hall during the presentation of reports from local government enumerators, the Director General, Professor Salisu Ahmed Ibrahim, underscored the importance of this initiative in enhancing the quality and regulation of traditional medicine practices across Kano State.

Professor Salisu announced the Agency’s commitment to further supporting the sector by organizing specialized training programs for traditional medicine practitioners.

These programs was aim to enhance practitioners’ knowledge and ensure greater efficiency and safety within the state’s health sector.

The Director General emphasized the Agency’s dedication to fostering a well-regulated health system that integrates traditional medicine while upholding the highest standards of practice for the benefit of the public.

Professor Salisu Ahmed also took the opportunity to thank the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his magnanimity in approving and financing the exercise. He extended his gratitude to the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, for his support, as well as to the Emirates Council through the (KACCECOH), the elders of traditional healers in the state, and the National Association of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Practitioners (NANTMP) for their cooperation and contributions.

Certificates were also presented to individuals who had previously registered with the Agency.
