The Emir of Gaya, Alh Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir has commended the state government for setting up a committee for re- opening the state boarding schools closed by the immediate past administration.
Alh Aliyu Ibrahim made the call while receiving Gaya local government Student Association in his palace.
The emir who spoke at length on the importance of acquiring education expressed appreciation for the steps the present administration is taking to revive the sector.
He expressed concern over the high increase of tertiary institutions fees which he said would scrawl down the standard of education across the nation.
Alh Abdulkadir appealed to the authority concern to look into the issue and ensure that students are giving the needed support.
Earlier speaking, the spokesperson of the association, Naziru Usama said they were at the palace to introduce the newly elected excos of the union and intimate the Emir about the activities of the association. He then commended the Emir for his contributions towards the development of the Emirate and the state in general.
